the maker team offers a wide array of skills and abilities – not only are we design literate with over 20 years experience working in a variety of architecture, graphic design and media related industries but are both knowledgeable and adept at a number of practical applications.     we can help source furniture, light fittings, carpets or any other particular item you may be looking for to add to your home. In addition we can assist with design and layout of interiors, including wall and floor finishes, furniture and fabrics and built in elements

    we restore antique and vintage furniture items sensitively, using correct materials and techniques so that the aging and patina of the piece is not lost but the item becomes usable once more

  • furniture manufacture

    we can design and build any piece of furniture made from wood, metal, stone or a variety of materials because we are skilled in welding, carpentry and various painting techniques

  • reupholstery

    not only do we do reupholstery ourselves but we also work with a number of highly skilled upholsterers that have years of experience in a variety of materials. We can reupholster in any fabric or leather of your choosing or help you to source the correct material for your project

    with several years of experience in creative websites that are both functional and cost effective, we can assist with bringing your business or project online – visit the creative studio to see past projects as well as the various packages on offer

  • graphic design

    having worked in graphic design-related businesses for our whole careers, we offer design solutions for a host of applications, from posters to branding to social media content

  • desktop publishing

    if you have a book or brochure that you are wanting to produce, we can assist with document set up, editing and proofing, printing liaison and e-publication

  • printing management

    we can set up and have all sorts of items printed, including stickers, tags, labels, business cards, banners, magazines, tissue paper – ensuring colours and formats are correct for print production

the making of maker

it’s an ever-evolving adventure…

In the first week of December 2023, maker in Stanford opened its doors. The shop is an interior and decor shop offering a mix of antique and vintage pieces combined with objet and art from local artisans. Here you will always find something unique, well made and authentic. While aesthetics form an integral part of the business, the core focus is on restoring or rejuvenating old pieces and celebrating South African creativity.

We offer a multi-disciplinary approach to design with expertise in digital design, physical fabrication and over 30 years combined experience in art, architecture, manufacture and design.

Maker Makes Trading (Pty) Ltd was launched in July 2023 by Nicole Rouillard and Nielen “Raka” Marais.
